How Pacivet handles your data.

Who runs Pacivet
Pacivet is a directory of people who care for animals in Slovakia and Hungary, at pacivet.eu and in the Pacivet Android app. This page explains what the site and the app record about you, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Your account
If you create an account we store the username and email address you give us, a display name, and your password. The password is kept as a bcrypt hash — we cannot read it, and nobody here can tell you what it is.
Signing in from the app stores a token on your phone so you stay signed in. We keep only a hash of that token; signing out removes it.
Bookings
When you book an appointment we store the time, the service, a phone number you type in so the provider can reach you, and any note you add. The provider you booked with can see all of it. Nobody else can.
Provider listings
If you are a provider, everything on your listing — name, practice, address, phone, email, description, opening hours — is published deliberately and is visible to everyone. That is what a directory is. You can edit or withdraw it at any time.
Visit counts
We count how many people visit the site and each listing. To tell one visitor from another without identifying anyone, your IP address and browser are combined with a secret value and passed through a one-way hash. Only that hash and the date are stored. The address itself is never written down, and the hash cannot be turned back into it.
There is no advertising network, no analytics service and no tracking software on this site or in the app.
Cookies
The site sets a session cookie so it can remember you are signed in, and a security token that stops other websites submitting forms on your behalf. Both end when you sign out. There are no advertising or analytics cookies to consent to, which is why you are not asked.
Who else handles your data
Email — confirmations and password resets — is sent through Brevo, an email delivery service, which necessarily sees the address it delivers to.
Maps are drawn from OpenStreetMap and CARTO tiles. Your browser or phone fetches those directly, so those servers see your IP address the same way any website you visit does. We send them nothing about you.
The site runs on a rented server in the European Union. Nothing is sold, rented or handed to anyone for marketing.
How long we keep it
Account details stay until you delete the account. Bookings are kept as a record of what was agreed. Visit counts are aggregated by day and hold nothing that points back to a person.
What you can ask for
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to us and we will answer.
You can delete your own account from the account page, which removes your sign-in details.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your data protection authority — in Slovakia the Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov, in Hungary the NAIH.
